Soatk Amana “Your Voice is a consignment” program

As the Lounge is very interested in the role of the Parliament and its importance in Egyptian society, the Lounge organized a program entitled (Soatk Amana – Your Voice is Amana) and that was in some steps; the first step is a lecture about how to choose the Member of Parliament. The second step is a simulation on the Election Day from the entering of the citizens the election commission, and voting. The third step is how to monitor any violations or irregularities may occur in that day. More than 1500 of people attended this program. This program was organized in and outside the Lounge.

Cinema El Tahrir “El Tahrir-Cinema” speaks all languages

By this month the Lounge has selected “Luck no time for Love” and “The Secret” movies from his library of movies supporting the Lounge political, human rights and civil awareness activities. The movies are showed in a special different way through discussing the main issues with audience trying to understand the issues and ideas of the movies and how these issues affect the society. Cinema El Tahrir is open for all the ages. There were about 75 of the audience in every time of show from all the Delta governorates.

Tahrir Lounge helps young people to learn ICDL

The Lounge organized an educational program to help young people to learn the ICDL skills in order to make them able to use the new modern technology. The program was used by a specialized training curriculum based on the latest training methods through the study of theory and practice to provide trainees with the skills, personal communication, how to obtain various information from the internet and many other skills that help young people to integrate within the community. The number of people who participated in this program was about 400 young people in the age from 18 to 35 years of both two sexes.

Tahrir Lounge is still in the Egyptian Streets

Tahrir Lounge team resumes their travels in the Egyptian streets. The team reached “Kafr Tablouh Village - Tala”, “Tokh Dambsh Village - Barkt El Saba” and “Kafr Rabia Village – Tala”, coming back to the Lounge in Tala for raising the citizens’ political awareness and helping them to know more about the system of election “Individual and Group system”. These awareness campaigns helped more than 600 of people of all ages.

Youth meet in Menoufia debates Club

The Lounge organized a program entitled “Debates club” in the beginning days of the Lounge, which aims to raise the capacity of young people in the field of politics, culture, science, art and link it to society and to identify the different points of view. This program was attended by young people from the age of 18 years and up to the age of 40 years and they were over 350 people.

God created us with two ears and one mouch….do you know why?

Symposium entitled (How to be a good listener) organized by the Tahrir Lounge to make sure of the effectiveness and quality of the activities organized by the Lounge and to teach the young people the communication skills and how to listen. This was as a part of the Lounge role to teach the young people the social values and ethics of dialogue in order to confirm the extent of the diversity of existing activities in the Lounge. This symposium was very successful. This symposium was attended by more than 150 people who went out to declare that they have learned how to make a dialogue in which they listen more than talk.

What do you think about illegal immigration?

This is the question asked by the Lounge to the attendance on a seminar, entitled \"illegal immigration and ambitious young people,”. The simmer discussed the concept of immigration in general and the concept of illegal immigration. It helped young people to identify the causes and consequences of illegal immigration and the social and political causes as well as international conventions. There was an open debate with young people to exchange different point about this topic. This seminar was attended by 100 members of the community who participated effectively.

The Arabian heart going on again

This was the slogan of Tahrir Lounge when the Lounge decided to organize this program in this month, entitled \"Arab spring revolutions\"; in order to keep up with current events in the Arab countries and the belief of the Community Leadership role of Egypt, even in such hard days in the country. The program was discussed through a series of workshops discussed the revolutions of (Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Syria and Yemen), participants discussed (the reasons - the road - results), the position of the international community and the position of the university of Arab Nations. There was an effective participation and there were about 200 people, mostly youth revolution.

Legislation Forum in Tahrir Lounge

The Lounge organized a workshop within the program of (Legislation Forum by Participation). It has addressed the definition of the three authorities in Egypt (judicial - legislative - executive) and the advantages and disadvantages of the new legal authority law, as well as explained some of the texts of the new Law of the judiciary, and finally causes of objects of lawyers on the text of Article 18,132, 133 and Article 77 decision 5. The participated people in this workshop were who interested in the political aspect. The audience was about 100 of people who are interested in political issues.

Tahrir Lounge expresses itself

The Lounge organized a political art festival entitled (Yalla Bina Nearaf)-“Let‟s know”. The main goal was to spread among the citizens and make awareness in an easy and simple way to be understood by all people of society. The festival was organized in cooperation with “Estamer Team” and “Bedaia Movement”. There were many shows related to politics aiming to enhance the culture and the awareness of citizens and move them to participate in political life in Egypt. The festival was attended by about 300 people on the road next to the passers who stopped by the event to see the show.

May a woman be a president?

This is the question raised during a conference organized to know the opinions of young people in this issue, the question which has been repeated more. This conference was attended by elite of intellectuals, prominent politicians and a group of women who participated in the field of politics. There was an active participation by young people between with and against. There were about 130 person attended the conference and there was many young women in the conference.

Tahrir Lounge’s tours in Universities

The Lounge’s team has visited Menoufia university more than one time in order to interact with the students of the university, making political and civic awareness campaigns and organizing many seminars and conferences in cooperation with the university.

Tahrir in Streets to Raise Awareness of Elections

The Tahrir Lounge held public meetings in Kafr El-Iraqia and Kaf Ashma (Al-Shuhada, Menoufia). The meetings were conducted to raise the awareness of the upcoming elections, so citizens of the delta could learn about their rights and civic duties. The Lounge held these workshops after conducting 20 covering similar topics, including an overview of the electoral system and an election day simulation. More than 2000 young people benefited from this program.

The importance of participating in the Local Councils and their role in making decision

Because of the interest of the Lounge on the role of young people and the participation in civic and political life, the lounge organized symposium entitled “The importance of participating in the Local Councils and their role in making decision. It was the first time for young youth to meet the people who intent to run for local councils and discuss the importance of the Local Councils and the effective role in building society. This seminar was attended by about 150 young people from different parts of Menoufia and some other governorates.

The Lounge Bustan presents talents

During a successful poetry session in the “Art and Politics” program in association with “The Culture Palace”, many poets met in the Lounge where many poems were presented by a group of young poets.

Maanl el Entmaa “Tog ether for Affiliation” Symposium

The Lounge organized a symposium under the name of Maan lel Entmaa “Together for Affiliation”. In this symposium, the concept of affiliation and the difference between political affiliation and home affiliation have been discussed. The issue has been discussed from various sides. There were many active discussions from the attendees during the symposium. There were about 100 of people in different ages.

(Art and Politics) Program

One of the “Art and Politics program is organizing a very interesting show of puppets by one of the Lounge volunteers which was admired by all the audiences. The audience asked the Lounge to reorganize such shows and by role the Lounge organized the second show under the name of Youm Fi Montda El Tahrir “Day in the Tahrir Lounge”, trying to discover the talents of youth and devolving it. This program was organized to help the youth to interact more in the society. The audience was about 100 people with in different ages.

The awareness campaigns helped more than 500 of people.

Future Leaders in Tahrir Lounge

The Tahrir Lounge conducted a Future Leaders program, consisting of professional and human development courses geared toward supporting and strengthen youth’s leadership skills, effective communication, strategic planning and enterprise management. The program’s courses aimed to build capacity of young leaders in the Nile Delta. The course objectives were to build the capacity of youth by developing skills needed by young people to maximize their role in society. About 500 young people, men and women, between 18 and 30 years old, participated in the program. The program’s outcome was to present young leaders who are capable of leading the democratic transition in Egypt.

Tahrir Lounge organized (A-B, Politics) workshops

Tahrir Lounge Nile Delta organized a group of workshops under the name of (A-B, Policy) in cooperation with the (Ashan Baldna “For Our Country” Association) on two periods. The first was on 1st and 3rd of November, and the second was on 17th and 15th of November in order to raise the capacity of young people in politics and identify a variety of political terms and concepts. It also discussed the system and procedures of the elections process. The program was 5 workshops attended by 175 of the youth.

Arts and politics program in Tahrir lounge/Nile Delta

Nile Delta presented the play “Fragile King” which was among the activities for the program titled “Politics and Art” where the lounge hosted and presented satirical political skits, where about 130 spectators were in attendance. This program addressed the current political, economic, and social realities. Also through this program a puppet sketch called \"Where is my Right\" took place with the attendance of more than 500 audiences.

Tahrir Lounge shows political and human rights movies in Tahrir Cinema

In a program titled “Tahrir Cinema,” Tahrir Lounge presented a series of movies that address political and human right issues. This created a forum that focused on the importance of diversity in the various ways used to spread human rights, civic, and political awareness among all segments of society. There was a large turnout for the series; about 80 spectators from Mounifia and other Nile Delta governorates attended every movie presented in the program. There was post film discussions about the dimensions of the film as well as the participant’s views on the issues presented in the movie. Two of the movies viewed were “The Stoning of Thoraya (2008)” and “My Name is Khan (2010)”.

Democracy and Citizenship in Tahrir Lounge

Tahrir Lounge organized a workshop titled “Democratic Beginnings and Citizenship Foundations” for 60 male and female youth. The activities’ aims were to enhance the youth’s role during the democratic transition in Egypt by way of understanding the basis of democracy and a system of good governance, and to also strengthen the foundations and principles of active citizens in order to establish an environment of active citizenship and tolerance.

Tahrir Lounge raises election awareness

Tahrir Lounge was joined by a group of experts and researchers from the National Council for Human Rights to work on a program called \"A B Elections\" which includes a chain of workshops. These workshops focused on electoral system concepts and definitions, the breakdown of votes and seats in the parliament, practical voter advice, and an election simulation to experience a run through of Election Day. Every workshop had 70-80 participants, with a final participant turn out of about 1500 male and female youth leaders so far. The workshop stressed the importance of citizen awareness and participation in the upcoming elections, so much so that by the end of the program a group of participants organized informational meetings about the elections in their streets, towns and youth centers.

Tahrir Lounge presents the citizen’s role in election monitoring

Tahrir Lounge hosted training for about 200 young political, coalition, and initiative leaders on citizen monitoring in the program “Local Election Monitoring”. The programs purpose was to create and provide local jobs in election monitoring and simultaneously ensuring fair working electoral procedures. There was also an aim to encourage fair campaign practices, to raise voting public awareness about elections, maximize the role of the participating public, and to support the democratic transition. The thought is that through capacity building, development, and training of a local group dedicated to democratic participation, work, activities and rules can be developed around the parliamentary electoral monitoring.
