This program empowers young artists to participate in
post-revolutionary civic activities through civic education paired with
guidance from local artists. During this short three month program,
participants increase their knowledge of political and civic issues; learn the
critical role that art plays in political freedom and freedom of expression;
and create and distribute art that they produce.
This program meets two
objectives that are critical and relevant given the political atmosphere: to
increase participants’ knowledge about the role that art plays in political and
civic engagement; and to increase political awareness and civic education of
youth in Egypt.
Through the production and distribution of their own art,
participants will be able to increase the political and civic knowledge of
others.
The project also incorporates community-centric art projects that the participants create and use to encourage community members to participate in creating art together.
