The project "Strengthening the rule of law in Egypt during democratization" held two discussion groups about the role of the judiciary in activating the rule of law. They explained the judicial system in Egypt, and how effective the role of the judiciary is in activating the rule of law, and the concept of judicial independence like protecting the rights and freedoms and promoting the principle of the rule of law. Dr. Sahar Abdel-Sattar (Professor of Public Law, Faculty of Law, Menoufia University) introduced the axes of the discussion in the sessions that were held on the 14th and 18th of October 2012 at Al-Tahrir Lounge / Nile Delta. The attendees were more than 70 lawyers in each group.
