El Sadat Association for Social Development & Welfare is an Egyptian NGO established in 2004 and registered at the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity under the number 1081. The Association’s aim is to empower and upgrade the underprivileged and marginalized citizens in Egypt with a main focus on women, youth and children. ESA works towards into implementing poverty alleviation projects that have immediate outcomes and introducing sustainable development projects, such as civic or economic programs, whose outcomes are typically long-term.
Since
its establishment in 2004, El Sadat Association promotes for democracy across
multiple sectors and in wide geographical areas. ESA firmly believes that good democracy
only achieved when a participatory approach is adopted to ensure engagement of
citizens, government and CSOs together thus, transparency, accountability and
access to information are guaranteed.
Towards that goal, civic engagement is a key theme that ESA focuses on along with rule of law and parliament support. ESA believes that supporting democracy through civic engagement, community development, and rule of law, active citizenship & capacity development of CSOs, youth; and other stakeholders will ultimately contribute to improving the democratic process and hence political environment. ESA's efforts are to empower citizens and different stakeholders to be responsibly active within their communities. In addition, access to justice is emphasized in ESA's projects through collaborating with different stakeholders to promote rule of law and access to information along with economic empowerment of youth and women in a broader scale.
