Tahrir Lounge hosted
training for about 200 young political, coalition, and initiative leaders on
citizen monitoring in the program “Local Election Monitoring”. The programs
purpose was to create and provide local jobs in election monitoring and
simultaneously ensuring fair working electoral procedures. There was also an
aim to encourage fair campaign practices, to raise voting public awareness
about elections, maximize the role of the participating public, and to support
the democratic transition. The thought is that through capacity building,
development, and training of a local group dedicated to democratic
participation, work, activities and rules can be developed around the
parliamentary electoral monitoring.
